We collaborate closely with public-and private-sector partners to translate big questions into deep insights that improve programs, refine strategies, and enhance understanding using data science and analytics. Our work yields actionable information to guide decisions in wide-ranging policy areas, from health, education, early childhood, and family support to nutrition, employment, disability, and international development.

The goal of this effort is to update and collect information on the final SY 2024–2025 expenses, revenues, and indirect costs for School Food Authorities (SFAs). This data will be used to calculate the cost of producing a reimbursable breakfast and lunch in schools, and to compare costs to revenues.

The follow-up data collection will occur between Fall 2025 and January 2026, and will consist of a self-administered web survey and a follow-up telephone interview.

Technical Assistants will serve in a dual capacity, with responsibilities that include:

  • Encouraging SFA completion of a web survey.
  • Working as an abstractor, pulling information out of expense and revenue statements for assigned SFAs.
  • After the abstraction is completed, conducting the SFA Follow-Up Cost Interview by Webex meeting with screen-sharing with the SFA director and district business manager (as applicable).
  • Building and maintaining a rapport with the SFA Director as well as any other school staff as needed.
  • Setting appointments to complete the follow-up survey and following through with all appointments, rescheduling as necessary and reporting on the progress of each of the SFA’s assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Prior experience as a technical assistant, data collector, or coder on the School Nutrition and Meal Cost Studies (SNMCS).
  • Experience working in school environments and professional settings.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with navigating online computer programs
  • Effective time, schedule, and workload management skills to meet set deadlines and a commitment to reliability and high-quality productivity.
  • Ability to work a minimum of 24 hours per week during standard business hours for the duration of the project.

This position offers an hourly pay rate of $23/hour.

This position is categorized as on-call, and as such, the hours may at times vary based on project needs. Your employment will be classified as on-call until the duration of the project(s) or need(s) is complete.
