We are seeking a highly motivated, Human Resources Specialist to join the Human Resources team. In this role, the Human Resources Specialist will serve as a liaison to our Survey Operations Center, SOC.  Mathematica’s SOC is an in-house, full-service data collection center that supports our clients’ information-gathering needs. It includes more than 400 contingent interviewers, locators, coders, editors, and data entry operators with access to a network of thousands of field interviewers that use the best practices in survey research to collect high quality data. Our data collection team consists of diverse talent with diverse skill sets, enabling us to conduct complex surveys in multiple languages and communicate with hard-to-reach populations.

Working days will never look the same as priorities shift in an evolving, fast-paced environment. Some of the day-to-day functions include employee relations, recruitment and staffing, attendance monitoring, managing security clearances, running reports, data entry, and payroll queries. We're looking for someone who has excellent time-management skills and the ability to multitask.

Responsibilities include the following but are not limited to: 

  • Deliver HR services to the SOC by supporting the team with planning, organizing, and prioritizing human resources activities including, but not limited to, employee relations, talent management, performance review, training, and policy and procedural improvements for the department
  • Support the Survey Operations Management team with resolving employee relations issues in a timely and efficient manner; handle other confidential HR matters to deliver high-quality services
  • Compile, prepare, and conduct quality audits of reports and documents (i.e., attendance reports, timesheets, timesheet reports, and contact lists), as needed
  • Partner with the Compensation COE for evaluating employee compensation changes
  • Provide timely and accurate data entry of new hires in addition to employee changes and terminations into the HRIS system (SuccessFactors)
  • Resolve routine inquiries and problems requiring knowledge of corporate and departmental policies, procedures, and projects in a timely fashion
  • Partner with the Talent Acquisition Associate by assisting in recruitment activities as needed
  • In collaboration with the Talent Acquisition Associate, conduct new hire background checks, process new hire onboarding, and obtain the required paperwork, including but not limited to I-9 verification (E-verify) and compliance management, coordinating offer letters, and background checks, etc.
  • Contribute to planning and organizing of departmental events (i.e., virtual activities, engagement initiatives)
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state employment law and legal compliance requirements and work with SOC management to reduce operational risks

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and education will also be considered
  • 3+ years of human resources generalist experience in a faced-paced environment
  • Must have experience using Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and applicant tracking systems (ATS)
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and written.
  • Proactive problem solver who is constantly learning
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience working well with dispersed teams as well as having the ability to work independently
  • Ability to easily shift direction and priorities based on changing critical business needs
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of employment laws

Available Locations: Princeton, NJ

This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of $67,000-$90,000 and may be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on company and individual performance.
