Mathematica is looking for a highly organized and enthusiastic Analyst with a passion for project management and an interest in improving government operations and health care delivery. The Analyst will support projects related to value-based care and healthcare policy, including Federal Medicare and Medicaid policy, using a blend of management, organizational, technical assistance, and qualitative and quantitative research skills. The Analyst may support 2 to 3 projects at a time, dedicating half of their time to project management. A successful candidate will demonstrate a willingness to adapt, be comfortable with ambiguity, collaborate within a functional team, be flexible in managing their workload, and work within tight timelines. The Analyst will demonstrate a mix of skills, including strong project and operations management; comfort with financial data analysis; meeting design and facilitation; and communications and dissemination. Note: Responsibilities and skills may vary based on project placement.
Some travel may be required.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct all project management activities for small to large, multi-year contracts, including but not limited to monitoring project costs, assessing earned value, overseeing subcontractors, and evaluating project performance and progress.
- Implement tools and processes for internal and external stakeholders to communicate, report, and monitor project performance. Tools may include Microsoft Project schedules, SharePoint websites, Confluence sites, Jira trackers, and Excel spreadsheets.
- Support project performance by monitoring, reporting, and mitigating project risks including but not limited to budget performance, scope creep, and staffing. Lead retrospective activities to Identify process improvements to elevate project performance.
- Draft clear and concise client facing communications and deliverables related to project management and performance.
- Actively support client management through analytic and problem-solving skills, including the ability to apply critical and creative thinking to identify solutions and respond to requests in situations where guidance is unclear or absent.
- Lead project onboarding activities, such as coordinating security training documentation, access to federal systems, and access to project folders and applications
- Outside of project management support, coordinate or lead technical assistance, quality measurement or other qualitative research tasks. Tasks may include meeting and event support, responding to technical assistance requests, conducting focus groups/interviews, participating in quality improvement activities, supporting quality measure development and maintenance, conducting literature reviews, or summarizing and analyzing findings using descriptive statistics, tables, and figures.
- Over time, gain subject matter expertise to contribute to other project tasks and deliverables.
- Actively support the advancement of organizational diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, and apply diversity, equity, and inclusion lens across job responsibilities
- Additional duties as needed, based on project placement.
Functional Knowledge:
- Experience using management tools, such as Microsoft Project and Jira, to manage schedules or monitor budgets. Experience with other software, such as NVivo, is desirable
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and SharePoint or other collaborative software tools
- Demonstrates an aptitude for proactive problem solving
- Comfortable with ambiguity and willingness to adapt and be flexible in responsibilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Experience bridging between business owners and technical staff to facilitate decision-making, identify and track user needs, and move work forward is a plus.
- Illustrates high-level of organization and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple projects and tasks
- Willingness to adapt and be flexible in responsibilities
