We are looking for a Senior Director of Enterprise Systems and Architecture to join our Princeton, NJ headquarters office. He or she will select, manage, upgrade, enhance, develop, define and support the core business applications. The position is responsible for planning activities that support the back-office application and data needs of Mathematica. The Senior Director will review data requirements, review and approve application architecture, decisions, and development of processes, policies, and controls. The position will establish a focal point for understanding data from the corporate perspective and representing the data so it can be understood uniformly throughout the company. Working with the business and IT leaders, the Senior Director of Enterprise Systems and Architecture role is also responsible for leading our initiative to create a roadmap for enterprise applications portfolio to retire, replace, or update applications and integration capabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages the enterprise applications
  • Experience with IT application development methodologies, procedures, principles, and practices
  • Plans and manages enterprise applications projects, overseeing functional and technical aspects of the implementation
  • Partners with the other ITS teams to proactively reduce the technological risks in the environment
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with stakeholders to build an enterprise applications roadmap that is responsive to the business vision, goals, and overall strategy
  • Determines when off-the-shelf or custom tools should be deployed
  • Develops a Data Warehousing and enterprise reporting capability
  • Makes resource allocations, recruiting and sourcing decisions
  • Sets architectural frameworks for the team for optimal use of automation, integration, and workflow tools.
  • Oversees maintenance, support, operations, and compliance of existing applications
  • Oversees any projects of new or upgraded enterprise systems
  • Responsible for Enterprise Application governance and SDLC
  • Responsible for setting and managing both operating and capital budgets.
  • Manages a portfolio of large projects alongside smaller work orders and maintenance work
  • Manages relationships with key stakeholders to ensure alignment with operational and administrative goals
  • Recommends technologies that reduce dual entry, manual processes, and protect sensitive data
  • Partners with the Infrastructure and Security lead to establish requirements for enterprise systems
  • Manages health and risk of projects related to team
  • Creates risk mitigation plans and escalates as needed.
  • Participates as a member of the IT Leadership Team and fosters relationships with peers in IT and Business
  • Manages a team of application managers and developers

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information science or equivalent experience and 15 years of relevant experience in a computer and network support environment
  • Five or more years in a leadership role with Enterprise Systems
  • Proficient in the SDLC and Project Management tools/language
  • Experience with enterprise systems that include financial management, Human Resources, Procurement, and Professional services
  • Experience in enterprise architecture best practices
  • Knowledge of methods for conducting activities which identify, and address stakeholders’ needs
  • Consulting capabilities with the business on the application systems potential impacts.
  • Experience leading technical solution design, data mapping along with overall financial analysis
  • Successful track record of leading large-scale projects and multiple projects with varying priorities
  • Experience with cloud architecture, preferably AWS (Amazon Web Services)
  • Knowledge of the Deltek suite is preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of federal contracting environment preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of Financial Management, HR, Sales, and Project Management system requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to deal tactfully and diplomatically with others
  • Flexibility to handle multiple priorities, sometimes simultaneously, under deadline pressure
  • Ability to work independently for extended periods of time
  • As a federal government contractor, all staff working in our central ITS group with access to corporate computer systems are required to successfully undergo a background investigation or security clearance as a condition of employment

This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of $180,000 - $225,000. This position is eligible for an annual bonus, based on company and individual performance.

Attention: we are accepting applications on a rolling basis but will not conduct interviews until March 2023. 

Various federal agencies with whom we contract require that staff successfully undergo a background investigation or security clearance as a condition of working on the project. If you are assigned to such a project, you will be required to obtain the requisite security clearance.
