Currently, we are looking for Program Managers in the Human Services business unit’s Operations and Project Management function in our Princeton, NJ, Washington, DC, Cambridge, MA, Chicago, IL or Ann Arbor, MI office  locations. Program managers lead and manage tasks and projects throughout the company for clients such as: The U.S. Departments of Agriculture, Education, Health and Human Services, Justice,  and Labor, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, and numerous state and local agencies.. They are responsible for meeting project objectives by providing the guidance and direction needed to remain on schedule and on budget. Program managers make critical project decisions about planning, procuring, managing, and closing out complex projects and lead process-oriented tasks to contribute to excellence in project delivery. Additionally, program managers possess subject matter expertise in public policy topics to support project teams.    

Duties may include:  

  • Applying project management best practices and MS Project to manage project schedule, cost, scope and quality
  • Leading large tasks and projects by providing guidance to the project teams, on project operations, including schedules, finances, progress of work and identification of risks as well as proposed options for action by project leadership, corporate leadership, or clients
  • Leading communications with technical project staff, researchers, internal business departments, programmers, external consultants, subcontractors, and client representatives
  • Executing project work by drafting correspondence for clients and subcontractors with respect to project management, technical, and contractual issues
  • Analyzing project expenditures, conduct cost analyses, and forecast project costs
  • Providing guidance or contributing to deliverables and project plans which include comprehensive evaluation of all the operational components of projects, outlining problems, options, and solutions for action by client agencies
  • Providing guidance on project collaboration tools such as SharePoint websites, Microsoft Project schedules, Excel spreadsheets, and other tools
  • Ensuring project adherence to data privacy, security, archival, destruction, and transition requirements and other contractual stipulations
  • Leading business development opportunities by managing proposals
  • Contributing to other Human Services projects and functions by providing data analysis of management information.

Position Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Business, Management, Operations, or at least seven years of experience in a related field
  • Work experience at a human services program or agency, school district, child welfare agency, state or federal government, or foundations is preferred
  • MS Project and PMP Certification required
  • Knowledge of qualitative and/or quantitative research methods
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and,accurately, both independently and in teams
  • Excellent organizational, communication, writing, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to deal tactfully and diplomatically with others
  • Flexibility to lead and manage multiple priorities, sometimes simultaneously, under deadlines
  • Experience with management tools, including Microsoft Project
  • Willingness to take on challenges, learn new subject matter and assume responsibility for major project tasks
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary, in-person, and virtual teams, including subcontractors, senior staff and contracting agency staff
  • Certifications demonstrating management proficiency and expertise, such as Project Management Professional (PMP) are preferred.

This position offers an anticipated annual base salary of $90,000-$121,200. This position may be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on company and individual performance.

Various federal agencies with whom we contract require that staff successfully undergo a background investigation or security clearance as a condition of working on certain projects. If you are assigned to such a project, you will be required to obtain the requisite security clearance.
